Hello friends and hello May! I feel like April FLEW by. With my birthday, a move on the horizon and everything re-opening, it’s been a busy few weeks. But we’re not here to talk about that. We’re here to talk about BOOKS! And I have another fabulous selection of upcoming releases to share with you today. All of these books are coming out this month so you’ll want to add them to your TBR as quickly as possible. Let’s see which May 2021 book releases I’m most excited about, shall we?

  • Been meaning to read Weir’s books for a while now
  • I think it would be a perfect read for me and my husband to enjoy together
  • Sounds very exciting!

  • I want to know more about the early stages of the pandemic that led to where we are now
  • Sounds like it’s going to be a really insightful human-centric book

Why I Want to Read It:

  • It just sounds sooooo good!
  • Love genre-blending fiction – sounds like it’s got some fantasy/magical realism elements
  • Intrigued by it being labelled as “Gothic fiction” which is a subgenre that I LOVE
  • Again, strong social themes = my jam

We Are Satellites
by Sarah Pinsker

May 13th | Head of Zeus
Science Fiction

Why I Want to Read It:

  • Pinsker is an author who is well and truly on my radar – but I haven’t read their work… yet!
  • Love stories that question the potential implications of technological advances
  • I’m really enjoying speculative fiction at the moment

The Forest of Stolen Girls
by June Hur

May 24th | Feiwel & Friends
Young Adult, Mystery/Thriller

Why I Want to Read It:

  • Heard AMAZING things about Hur’s previous book, The Silence of Bones
  • Missing girls is one of my favourite tropes
  • It’s a historical mystery and I haven’t read many of those

  • Heard great things about the author’s work
  • Love a good #MeToo story especially when it centres justice for victims and women defending each other

  • Been meaning to read Yoon’s previous books and just haven’t gotten around to them yet
  • Again, tech-centred sci-fi = exactly what I want to read
  • Sounds like it’ll be a bit of a thriller

  • Don’t read many political thrillers but am always intrigued by them
